WhatsApp Business API
Basics
The official interface that lets businesses connect a WhatsApp number to a platform like Wbots. It isn’t an app you install — it’s server-side infrastructure that lets a whole team work one number.
Example: Difference from the regular WhatsApp Business app: that’s one person on one phone; the API is a team on a platform.
Meta Tech Provider
Basics
A company officially approved by Meta to provide access to the WhatsApp Business interface. The accreditation means the company passed Meta’s review and is bound by its policies.
Example: Wbots is a certified tech provider, so activation happens through an official channel.
Meta Business Manager
Basics
Meta’s control panel where your business assets are managed: pages, ad accounts, and your WhatsApp Business account.
Example: You need an account there before WhatsApp API activation.
Message template
Messaging
A pre-written message reviewed and approved by Meta before you can use it. Required whenever you start the conversation outside the 24-hour window.
Example: Example: “Hi {{name}}, your order {{number}} is out for delivery.”
The 24-hour window
Messaging
When a customer messages you, a 24-hour window opens in which you can reply freely without a template. Once it closes, you need an approved template.
Example: Each new customer message resets the window for another 24 hours.
Session message
Messaging
Any message you send inside the 24-hour window. Completely free-form — text, image or file, with no prior approval needed.
Example: These are cheaper than template messages.
Opt-in
Policy
The customer’s explicit consent to receive messages from you. Meta requires it before any marketing message, and breaching it puts your number at risk.
Example: Consent can come from a form on your site or a checkbox at checkout.
Number ban / restriction
Policy
Action Meta takes against numbers that breach its policies — such as messaging people who never consented, or a spike in “spam” reports.
Example: Unofficial tools raise this risk substantially.
Quality rating
Policy
A rating Meta assigns your number (green / yellow / red) based on how customers react to your messages. A low rating reduces your sending limit.
Example: It improves when customers reply, and worsens when they block or report.
Messaging limit
Policy
The maximum number of new customers you can start conversations with per day. It starts limited and rises automatically with good sending behaviour.
Example: Typical tiers: 250 → 1,000 → 10,000 → unlimited.
Conversation
Billing
Meta’s unit of billing: a 24-hour thread with one customer. Every message inside that period counts as a single conversation.
Example: Important for billing — you don’t pay per message, you pay per conversation.
Display name
Basics
Your business name as the customer sees it instead of the number. Meta reviews it and it must match your actual business name.
Example: A generic name like “Customer Service” on its own won’t be approved.
Green tick
Basics
An official verification badge shown beside the business name. Meta grants it to well-known brands after review, and it is not guaranteed for any account.
Example: Official activation is one thing; the green tick is a separate and harder step.
Webhook
Technical
A URL you configure in the platform; the system posts a notification to it the moment a defined event happens — such as a new message arriving.
Example: Used to connect Wbots to your internal system or CRM.
API
Technical
A set of programmatic endpoints that let your system talk to Wbots directly — sending messages and pulling data.
Example: Needs a technical team, and gives maximum flexibility.
Broadcast
Messaging
Sending a template message to a list of customers at once. Each recipient receives it as an individual conversation, not a group.
Example: Recipients cannot see each other.
OTP
Technical
A one-time verification code sent to a customer to prove they own the number — used at login and for sensitive actions.
Example: Can be delivered over WhatsApp or SMS.
Click-to-WhatsApp
Marketing
An ad type on Facebook and Instagram that opens a WhatsApp conversation with you when tapped, instead of sending the user to a website.
Example: The enquiry lands in your inbox tagged with the ad it came from.
